Apostrophe

Bruised

When I wanted to jump off the building’s top

When I wanted to slice open my own wrists

When I wanted to eat out the medicine cabinet

You sent me a malevolent message

Cloaked with caring concern

“I don’t want to leave you alone,

Let me come stay with you for safety”

But you were not my savior

Never my pretty prince in shining armor

You were the dungeon dragon

Slithering your scaly tail on the stone floor

Clicking your claws against the walls

Your parting words to me were

“You know my heart best”

And I do.

I know it to be black

To be blue

Blue and black just like you
