Apostrophe

Rachel

You said nothing

But said everything

Through a single tear

Slipped out of seeing eyes

After a shaky breath

All these years

Of sharing my story

I faced people

Who became angered

On my behalf

Who expressed sympathy

For my predicament

Or who, quite simply,

Did not care

Yet when I finished my tale

Told while staring at the table

I looked up to perceive

The very first person

Who cried for me

I will remember you

And treasure this moment

Until my final breath;

Thank you.
